Giovanni Battista Pirelli founded his company in 1872 and became active in producing all kinds of rubber products. Nowadays, Pirelli plays a key role in the Italian economy. The company is best known as a manufacturer of car tires, truck tires and motorcycle tires, but their activities also include the production of electric wirings and telecommunication. The company has a turnover of approximately € 6,500,000,000. 3.5% of this amount is invested in research and development. Still, Pirelli is rather a small manufacturer, at least compared to other premium brands.
The company's administration kept on being passed from father to son for many years. Alberto Pirelli was the initiator of the construction of the famous Pirelli Tower in Milan in the 1950s. The founder's grandson, Leopoldo Pirelli ran the company from 1970 to 1992. He was in turn succeeded by his son-in-law, Marco Tronchetti Provera. In November 2015, the Pirelli group came into Chinese hands. You undoubtedly know Pirelli as the exclusive tire sponsor and supplier of Formula 1 and of course you know that Pirelli publishes its world-renowned calendar every year, which is a true collector's item.
These are the main Pirelli car tires and their main features:
Pirelli Cinturato P1 Verde: This tire is especially suitable for city cars and has an innovative tread design. The new rubber compound results in more comfort and less driving noise inside the car. The tire is light and has an aerodynamic design. This tire is homologated by the car brands Ford, Fiat, Nissan, Skoda, Hyundai, Kia and Volkswagen.
Pirelli Cinturato P7: this tire's advanced compund is characterised by a higher presence of artificial rubber. This ensures better wear resistance, excellent maneuverability and good braking performance. Pirelli developed a very specific tread for the Cinturato P7.
Pirelli Cinturato P7 Blue: this tire can be considered as a "greener" version of the P7, thanks to its even lower noise emissions and even more comfort.
Pirelli P-Zero Rosso: This tire is homologated by Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Mercedes, Porsche, Volkswagen, Volvo and others. It shouldn't be a surprise that this model delivers an optimal balance between comfort and performance. It owes its excellent maneuverability to its asymmetrical tread, it retains its properties at high speeds and it offers good safety on both wet and dry surfaces.
Pirelli P-Zero Nero: This tire offers consistent comfort throughout the tire life. It is suitable for use on dry and wet surfaces. The silica content in the rubber compound is higher than average, which ensures good wear resistance.
Pirelli P-Zero: This is the Pirelli car tire with the highest traction power and the best braking performance. This ensures the maximum control of the vehicle. The balance between maneuverability and braking behavior naturally makes it an ideal model to be mounted on sports cars. The Pirelli P-Zero is homologated by the car brands Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Mini, Jeep, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Lincoln, Lotus, Maserati, McLaren , Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Porsche, Seat, Skoda, Volkswagen and Volvo.

Pirelli Carrier: thanks to a new tire profile, a new compound and a completely new geometry, this van tire comes with an extremely high mileage and it is extremely safe on wet surfaces.
P-Zero Rosso SUV: this tire is ideal for powerful cars. This model offers an optimal balance between comfort and performance. The tire belts are asymmetrical and have four longitudinal grooves. This improves performance when aquaplaning is likely to occur. This tire makes you master the situation in your SUV.
Pirelli Scorpion Verde: By using special polymers for this tire, combined with a specially designed groove follow-up in the profile, Pirelli succeeds in achieving better overall stability, lower rolling resistance and fuel consumption, and thus lowering CO2 emissions. This tire is suitable for use on the largest SUVs. This tire is homologated by the car brands Audi, BMW, Fiat, Ford, Jeep, Land Rover, Maserati, Mercedes, Nissan, Porsche, Skoda, Volkswagen and Volvo.
